• Xagħra council will be holding a ‘Figs Festival’ at Victory Square today between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. People from Italy, France and Greece will be attending. The council forms part of ‘The Ficusnet’, a network of European cities and villages producing figs.

• A car boot sale by the Friends of the Sick and Elderly will be held at the football ground, next to Victoria main car park, today between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. The charge per car is €10. Hawkers will not be allowed.

• The Gozitan Graduates Movement will be holding First Friday Mass at St Augustine church, Victoria, on Friday at 8.30 p.m. The sacrament of reconciliation will be available before Mass.

• A Mass for the repose of the soul of President Emeritus Prof Guido de Marco will be celebrated by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech at the Cathedral on Saturday at 7.15 p.m. The Chorus Urbanus will take part. Members of the family will be present.

• The Bethel Charismatic Group will be holding a prayer meeting at the church of Our Lady of Pompeii, Victoria, on Saturday at 7 p.m.

• The Diocesan Eucharistic Movement will hold a prayer evening at Savina Church, Victoria, on Saturday at 8.30 p.m., followed by Mass at midnight.

• The Gozo Music Session will be celebrating its second anniversary at the Main Square Bar, Victoria, on October 6. Everyone is welcome to join in. Many types of music, from jazz to folk to blues, will be played.

• Devotees of Santa Fawstina are invited for a half day retreat at St Augustine Covent, Victoria, on October 5 from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. on the 10th anniversary of being declared saint. For more information call Frances Portelli on 2155 8525.
