The feast of St John the Baptist is being celebrated today at Xewkija.

Bishop Nikol Cauchi will lead a pontifical concelebrated Mass at the Rotunda church at 8.45 a.m. The Archpriest of Qala, Rev. Dr Joe Zammit, will deliver the panegyric.

The Leone Band will play marches at 11. The St Cajetan Band of Hamrun will join the band at 11.30.

The Vicar-General, Mgr Giovanni B. Gauci, will concelebrate a solemn Mass at 6.30 p.m., and will also deliver the panegyric.

The procession with the statue of St John the Baptist, led by Mgr Francis Debrincat, will leave the church at 7.30, accompanied by the Precursor Band.

The La Stella Band will perform on the church parvis at 8.30.

The procession will end with the antiphon and a sacramental blessing at 10.30. The Precursor Band will then play marches at 11 p.m.

¤ Mgr Martin Portelli is leading a concelebrated Mass at Nadur Basilica today at 9.30 a.m. to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his priesthood. He will present scores of his music compositions to the parish.

¤ A Slovenian flute quartet will perform during the Victoria International Arts Festival today at 8 p.m. in Mgr Giuseppe Farrugia Hall, near St George's Basilica.

A Maltese musico-literary evening, Taht Sema Kwiekeb, produced by Professor Joe Friggieri, is being held at the St George parish centre on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

The Oden Ensemble for Contemporary Music from France is performing on Thursday at 8 p.m. at St George's Basilica.

Soprano Gillian Zammit is giving a recital on Friday at 8 p.m. in Mgr Giuseppe Farrugia Hall.

The Piano Trio Brio from Norway is giving a concert on Saturday at 8 p.m. in Mgr Giuseppe Farrugia Hall.

¤ Festivities marking Mnarja (the feast of St peter and St Paul), being celebrated on Wednesday, continue today at 9 a.m. in Nadur. The Ite ad Joseph Band will play marches, followed by a programme on the church square.

Fr Joseph Bajada is celebrating Mass for emigrants and foreigners who live in the parish at tomorrow at 6 p.m. A reception will follow in the sacristy.

A concelebration will be held tomorrow at 9.30 p.m. with the participation of the St Gregory, St Joseph and Mnarja bands. Ground fireworks by Lourdes Fireworks of Naxxar will be let off.

The Generous Heart Award presentation ceremony will follow.

The St Helen Band of Birkirkara will play marches at 11.30.

Archpriest Mgr Salvu Muscat, accompanied by the collegiate chapter, will lead solemn vespers at 6.30 p.m.

The Mnarja, Precursor and St Margaret bands will play marches at 7.

The procession with the statue of St Peter and St Paul, led by Archpriest Muscat and the collegiate chapter, accompanied by the Mnarja Band, leaves the church at 8.

The procession ends with the antiphon and a sacramental blessing at 10. The Mnarja Band will then play marches at 10.30.
