¤ The feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is being celebrated in Fontana today.

At 9 a.m. Cardinal Ignace Moussa I. Daoud, accompanied by Bishop Nikol Cauchi, will lead a pontifical concelebrated Mass, with the participation of the Cathedral Chapter. The cardinal will then deliver the panegyric and give the children of the parish their First Holy Communion.

Victory Band will play marches in the streets at 11, followed by a pony race in St Domenica Street at 2 p.m.

The St George Basilica archpriest Mgr Dr Joseph Farrugia, accompanied by the Basilica Collegiate Chapter and Clergy, will lead solemn vespers at 6.30.

The procession with the statue of Jesus, led by Cardinal Daoud and accompanied by the Georgian Chapter and the La Stella Band, leaves the church at 7.30.

The Precursor Band will perform on the church parvis at 8.

The procession will end with the antiphon and a sacramental blessing at 10. The Ite Ad Joseph Band will then play marches at 10.30.

¤ Melanoma Day is being organised today from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. at the Gozo General Hospital. There will be a demonstration on the scanning process available for melanoma incidence.

¤ The Gozo Cana Movement is commemorating Father's Day with a Mass, led by its director Fr George Borg, at the St Mary Cemetery, limits of Xewkija, today at 4.15 p.m.

¤ A coffee morning is being organised by the Cathedral parish church at Crystal Palace in Marsalforn on Tuesday. Transport leaves Savina Square, Victoria, at 8.45 a.m. Tickets at Lm1.25 each may be obtained from Coney Island Bar (2155-1289) or George Debono (2155-1460).

¤ Our Lady's calling to Carmela Grima is being commemorated at Ta' Pinu Sanctuary on Wednesday. Bishop Nikol Cauchi will lead a concelebrated Mass at 9 a.m., after which he will deliver a sacramental blessing. Vicar General Mgr Giovanni Bosco Gauci will lead a concelebrated Mass at 8 p.m.

¤ A vigil of prayer is being held at the Sacred Heart Seminary in Victoria on Thursday at 9 p.m.

¤ Bishop Nikol Cauchi will ordain George Buttigieg, OFM Conv., Christopher Cauchi, Pierre Farrugia, OFM, Pater Paul Sammut and Dominic Sultana as priests and Michael Galea as deacon at the Cathedral Church in Victoria on Friday, at 7 p.m.

¤ Xaghra parish church is holding a summer club for Form 1 to Form 4 pupils at the Youth Centre in the afternoons. Pupils can develop their talents in dancing, playing the guitar, art, how to do a radio programme, poetry and flower arrangements.
