Alternattiva Demokratika has written to the Malta Environment and Planning Authority after receiving numerous complaints from people swimming in St Thomas Bay, Marsascala.

It claimed that a commercial kiosk next to the small sandy beach in the bay, an area very popular with families and children, has a pipe jutting out directly into the sea, close to the swimming area. This kiosk is also using part of the area reserved for swimmers to moor jet skis, it also claimed.

"The rights of families and children to swim in bays free from the encroachment of commercial establishments should be given priority," AD said.
