Chief Justice Vincent De Gaetano and Mr Justice Joseph Camilleri have left for Malawi where they will be attending the 13th Triennial Conference organised by the Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges Association.

The conference will discuss several topics including the role of an independent judiciary in the promotion of economic development, judicial ethics and combating corruption within the judiciary, judicial protection of environmental rights, and the rights of the child.

Mr Justice Camilleri will also be delivering a paper on the role of judicial education in preserving an independent, competent and upright judiciary.

Mr Justice Joseph Filletti has been appointed Acting Chief Justice during the absence of Chief Justice De Gaetano.
