How to design a communication system and the importance of having a strategic communications plan in an organisation were recently discussed at a Misco breakfast meeting.

The meeting, which was held at the Radisson SAS Baypoint Resort, was mainly targeted at young human resources practitioners in both the private and public sectors.

Misco associate director Philip Bourne said: "It is imperative for any organisation to have a set communications plan which outlines personnel procedures and policies. In designing a communication system, one needs to be clear about the objectives of such a system, so that it is in line with the philosophy of the organisation."

Mr Bourne also announced that for easy reference Misco has recently published a business report entitled "Designing a Communication System in an Organisation".

The meeting was also addressed by Misco's general manager Anthony Carabott who spoke about marketing research, Misco's different services, and how they provide value-added knowledge to support organisations' business objectives.

Other speakers at the meeting included Joseph F. X. Zahra who spoke about training and development and MISCO's mission statement and operating principles, which he said help to keep the company in focus;

Josef Said who spoke about people selection, Alida Buttigieg, who spoke about Misco's business reports, and Lawrence Zammit who spoke about Misco's business consultancy services.
