Three companies yesterday filed a judicial protest in the First Hall of the Civil Court complaining of action taken by Gzira local council and the Northern Harbour District Joint Committee.

Mica-Med Ltd, MBC Ltd and Hydrolectric Ltd claimed in their protest that in terms of a contract of May, 2002, they were the contractors for the supply and maintenance of street lighting for the Northern Harbour District Joint Committee which also bound Gzira local council.

However, according to the three companies, Gzira local council was in breach of the contract as it was ordering supplies from third parties. This had led the three companies to sustain damages.

The three companies, while holding the council liable in damages, concluded their protest by calling upon Gzira council to immediately halt its illegal actions. Northern Harbour District Joint Committee was also requested to take all opportune action.
