I refer to the letter by Brian Tortell with regard to an entry in On The Dot entitled Flee Fall.

Mr Tortell encourages consumers to check and compare fares in order to make an informed choice.

I have done exactly that with the following results:

Depart Gatwick on June 15 and return from Malta on August 10 - Air Malta price, £181; BA price £89.90, a difference of £91.10.

Depart Gatwick on September 29 and return from Malta on October 16 - Air Malta price £208; BA price £115.20, a difference of £92.80.

Depart Gatwick on December 1 and return from Malta on January 11, 2006 - Air Malta price, £154; BA price £89.20, a difference of £64.80.

Please note that the prices include all taxes.

Please can Mr Tortell tell us why there are these huge differences in prices which certainly prove that Air Malta prices are much higher than British Airways' and therefore the statement that the author of the item had given false information is totally incorrect.

I look forward to Mr Tortell's learned reply.
