We all sympathise with the problem of dog fouling in Anthony Muscat Doublesin's street and obviously people responsible should be fined. However, he is out of line when he writes that having an Animal Act is "a waste of precious time and money".

Reality goes beyond the problems that exist in Poinsietta Street in Attard. People like Mr Muscat Doublesin do not know how much misery certain animals experience. Come to any animal sanctuary and let the people tell you what they face every day. Is Mr Muscat Doublesin willing to abolish an Animal Rights Act just because of some selfish and irresponsible individuals who do not clean up after their dogs? Doesn't he have a little bit of compassion for all the innocent dogs and cats that are cruelly dumped in our streets? Isn't he ashamed that Malta is so backwards when it comes to animal rights? I am. That is why I try to see how I can help out rather than writing against a much-needed law.
