We heard in the news that there will be an increase of €2.50 in a 12 kg gas cylinder. We have had three increases in one year, even though the international price of gas has gone down again. It is very convenient for a gas company that has a monopoly to juggle with prices whenever someone suggests it in the conference room. But what if we had four or five suppliers on the market? I wonder how these clever people in the board room would react to competition. Just one comparison, I am now paying €185 a month less on my telephone bills than I was paying a year ago. It is called competition for market share.
The same goes for new cars sold locally by sole agents; just compare the prices with the advertisements you see every minute on the Italian media and you'll get the picture.
