After competing in the Plaza's winter competition, I was informed that I had been selected to participate in the final competition stage, along with others, by answering two questions, with the winners being those with the best answer.

The procedure seemed fair enough. However, what really irked me was the fact that the questions were of a marketing nature where the finalists had to discuss the future of retail industry in Malta, and the role of the Plaza in all this.

Having no background whatsoever in marketing or economic matters, I knew beforehand that my answer was not going to be the winning one. On the other hand, finalists who studied or worked in the marketing field were obviously at an advantage.

If the competition was truly open to everyone, the questions should have been general ones, which did not involve technicalities as these questions did. Otherwise what would be the point of opening a competition to the general public?

And by the way, I was not one of the final winners!
