An Egyptian man was yesterday conditionally discharged for three years after he admitted to assaulting and slightly injuring a police constable when he bit him.

Rabie Hussein Abd El Sadek Megawer, 25, pleaded guilty to assaulting and slightly injuring the constable, disobeying police orders and filing a false police report on Monday in Qawra.

Magistrate Dennis Montebello heard how Mr Megawer had cooperated with the police and apologised for his actions.

Police Inspector Therese Sciberras prosecuted.

Lawyer Patrick Valentino was defence counsel.
