The House of Representatives yesterday expressed its condolences to Nationalist MP Antoine Mifsud Bonnici, whose wife, Rose, died on Saturday.

Acting Prime Minister Tonio Borg praised her for her active support for her husband, an MP since 1976, while caring for a family of five children.

Joe Mizzi expressed condolences on behalf of the opposition and, like Dr Borg, praised Dr Mifsud Bonnici for having been able to do his parliamentary duties despite his difficulties, even when the opposition had offered to "pair" him so that he did not have to be present.

Dr Mifsud Bonnici thanked the Speaker and both sides of the House for their solidarity and their attendance at the funeral Mass earlier in the day. He also expressed his gratitude for the support always given by his wife.
