Parents were recently invited to learn more about the increased opportunities for entry into church schools at a conference organised by the Association of Parents of Children in Church Schools at St Dorothy School, Żebbuġ.
The conference was opened with the launch of the association's new website at www.apccsmalta.eu. Gege Gatt from Icon, designers of the website, highlighted the great impact the internet is having on daily life.
A presentation on media safety by the Police Cyber Crime Unit which followed raised a spontaneous discussion. The discussion centred around the correct use of media and social networking tools by children and adults.
During the second half of the conference, church school leaders explained how the 11+ reform has led to the church schools' expansion project and revised criteria for entry into church schools.
Various questions were raised by parents concerning siblings, children of teachers in church schools, and the points of entry into church schools, especially in the intial years.
