The Malta Union of Professional Psychologists will be holding its sixth Biennial Malta Conference of Psychology on "The Unborn Child" on Friday at Pope John Paul II Hall, Attard.

The one-day conference will be opened by President Fenech Adami.

The keynote speech, entitled "The importance of prenatal environmental influences for the behavioural development of the child", will be delivered by Professor Ben Van den Bergh, from the Department of Psychology at the Catholic University of Leuven.

Several Maltese professionals from various fields will be participating in three panels on "Challenges for the unborn child: the impact of various factors on the well-being of the unborn child"; "Preventive measures" and "Ethical issues, legal rights, and feminist perspectives".

The conference is intended for professionals from health, social welfare and education, psychology, school counselling, midwifery and social work, as well as members of the public.
