Trends in Maltese families will be the subject of a half-day national conference being held on Saturday at 9.30 a.m. at the Hotel Phoenicia Ballroom, Floriana.
The conference will conclude the Marriage Week organised by Proġettimpenn (representing the Cana Movement, Caritas Malta and the Archdiocese's Family Secretariat) and will be held in conjunction with the National Office of Statistics.
The speakers will be Michael Pace Ross, NSO director-general, who will give a general look at the situation of families in Malta, Etienne Caruana, director, social statistics and information society, on poverty and families' living conditions, and Clyde Caruana, a statistician at the public finance unit, who will give a breakdown of how social benefits are paid out in every locality. The conference will be chaired by Alex Attard, a member of Proġettimpenn.
The discussion will be open to the floor. Everyone is invited to attend. Marriage Week opened last Saturday with a national conference on marriage that was addressed by the Prime Minister and Mrs Gonzi and by the Opposition Leader and Mrs Muscat.
Today, special Masses will be held in all parishes to mark Christian Marriage Day.
