This year, the Congregation of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart, founded in Malta by the Servant of God Mother Maria Teresa Nuzzo, is celebrating its first centenary.

During the fourth Malta provincial chapter held recently, Sr Aurelia Vella was elected provincial superior for the next three years.

Sr Aurelia, who hails from Tarxien, joined the congregation in 1968. For many years she has taught at Teresa Nuzzo School in Marsa. She was also the vocation promoter and was involved in various apostolates in different parishes where the Congregation has a community.

The same chapter also elected Sr Victoria Sant as vicar provincial and counsellor. The other three provincial counsellors are Sr Cleophe Camilleri, Sr Rita Vella and Sr Mary Ann Sultana. Sr Lydia Debono was elected as provincial bursar.
