The consecration ceremony will be led by Mgr Nikol Cauchi, Bishop of Gozo, assisted by Mgr Blanco Prieto, Apostolic Nuncio for Malta and by Mgr Joseph Mercieca, Archbishop of Malta.

Mgr Grech started his priestly formation at the Sacred Heart Seminary in Gozo in 1977, and was ordained in 1984. He continued his studies at the Lateran University in Rome where he obtained the licence 'utroque iure'. He later obtained a doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical University of St Thomas.

Currently, he is judicial vicar of the Gozitan diocese and a judge on Malta's Metropolitan Tribunal. He is a member of the College of Counsellors and of the diocesan commissions of theology, of the family and of the means of social communication.

Late last year, Bishop Cauchi appointed him parish priest of Kercem.
