Do not consume this cocoa powder

It contains an additive that is not allowed in such products

The health authorities on Friday warned consumers to avoid consuming a cocoa-based powder as it contains an additive that is not allowed in such products.

The Food Safety and Security Authority said in a statement that, according to Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008, the product should not be consumed because it was found to contain the additive maltitol (E965), which is not permitted in products containing less than 25% cocoa.

The alert was issued about Valor's cocoa-based powder with sweeteners, which originates from Spain and is sold in bags of 200g. The lot numbers and best before dates are as follows: V25128M1/11-2026, V25070T1/09-2026, V25259T1/03-2027, O2603611/08-2027 and O2605621/08-2027.

The authority warned people to either dispose of the product or return it to the store from which it was purchased.
