Food Safety Authority warns food supplements should not be taken 'unnecessarily'
The Food Safety Authority on Tuesday warned the supplement “Dark Mamba” should not be consumed as it was “not notified” as a food supplement in Malta.
The warning concerns all lots of the product and was issued “as a precautionary measure”.
The authority said that food supplements “can cause unwanted side effects” especially they are not medically necessary or taken in excessive amounts.
“Supplements are not a substitute for a balanced diet, and taking multiple products together may lead to harmful interactions with medications or existing health conditions,” the Food Safety and Security Authority said.
It added food supplements should not be taken unnecessarily.
“Always seek guidance from a doctor, pharmacist, or other qualified healthcare professional before starting any new supplement.”
