Last Wednesday (September 22) I attended a European Consumer Consultative Group Meeting in Brussels, in my capacity as the Consumers' Association president Benny Borg Bonello's substitute. He was otherwise engaged.

A particular interesting item on the agenda was about the evaluation of Services of General Interest in the new member states.

In no uncertain terms, as EU members, we will definitely gain additional protection for consumers. Among other issues, over the next few weeks, I will cover ten basic principles on consumer protection in the EU.
