Tourism Minister Francis Zammit Dimech, one of the contenders for the post of Nationalist Party deputy leader, said the appointment of Lawrence Gonzi as PN leader was one of the interesting changes taking place in Malta.
Dr Gonzi had inherited a sound party after 27 years under Eddie Fenech Adami's leadership, he said.
Dr Zammit Dimech, who was addressing a political conference at the Gzira PN club as part of the campaign for the deputy leadership election, said he was convinced that Dr Gonzi would be successful in his new post.
He pledged his support to the new leader in his work for the party and in government and said that his decision to contest was motivated by his wish to further such support.
