The three contenders for Labour’s deputy leader election cast their vote this afternoon.

Ministers Owen Bonnici and Chris Cardona and former party president Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi are vying for the post, vacated with the resignation of Minister Konrad Mizzi in the wake of the Panama Papers scandal, only shortly following his election in a one horse race.

Voting is taking place until 8pm.

Whoever gets 50 per cent plus one of the valid votes will be elected to the post.
If no one gets the required amount, the two front runners will battle it out again tomorrow.
