The government evening publishing the contracts with Vitals Global Healthcare, the new private operator at the Gozo, St Luke’s and Karin Grech hospitals.

The contracts were tabled in Parliament by Health Minister Chris Fearne.

Mr Fearne said earlier that the contracts were being published in their entirety with the commercially sensitive parts being censored out.

VGH was chosen as the preferred bidder in June last year for the public-private partnership. It will be injecting €220 million in a total revamp of the three hospitals.

The concession is for 30 years and the capital injection would be made over the next two years.

VGH has roped in Partners Healthcare International, a US-based company that runs hospitals, to take care of the operational side.

More than 20 per cent remains unpublished - PN

In a statement, the Nationalist Party said that 60 contract sheets - more than 20 per cent, were not being published.

It pointed out that the publication of parts of the contract was the result of pressure by the party and following a judicial protest by the Medical Association of Malta and the Union Ħaddiema Maghqudin.

The contracts, the PN said, should be subject to a detailed investigation by the Auditor General.
