The Malta Cookery and Food Association senior national team of chefs led by association treasurer Mario Xuereb and Joe Vella (of Hilton Malta), team manager, won gold medals with honours at an international cookery competition in Budapest.

Their next competition will be the world cooking Olympics held in Erfurt, Germany in October.

The team members were Kevin Arpa, sous chef at the Corinthia San Gorg; Kevin Bonello, executive chef at the Xara Palace; Paul Borg, executive chef at the Barcelò Riviera Resort; Mark Gauci, head chef at the Peperoncino Restaurant; Ronnie Caruana, executive pastry chef at the Hilton Malta, and Andrea Bonaci, chef de partie at the Hilton Malta.
