Rock band Corkskrew has released the first single from its CD album to be launched later this month.
The single is entitled Blind Spot and will feature in the band's second album No Ordinary Maybe.
Blind Spot highlights the band's new sound and presents a darker, more mature sound, albeit still radio-friendly. Feedback from DJs, music critics and listeners has been very encouraging, the band said.
The CD album No Ordinary Maybe was recorded and mixed by David Vella at Temple Studios. The songs were written in the period following the 2002 release of Corkskrew's debut CD Micromania.
"In 2003, the band started writing several new songs and discarded quite a number of ideas. Eventually we settled for the songs we have on the new album. It was felt that a more organic sound was needed and the new songs quickly shed the electronic sheen of previous Corkskrew songs and focused on a back-to-basics approach to song writing," the band's vocalist Diane Micallef said.
No Ordinary Maybe will feature 12 tracks, including Blind Spot.
Over the past year, Corkskrew performed most of the songs on the album during live gigs in Malta as well as Austria and Paris.
Corkskrew also includes Lincoln Spiteri (guitars and programming), Franco Aloisio (drums) and Cliff Smith (bass guitar).
