The Irish tourist who passed away on Tuesday while out on a pleasure cruise died of a coronary artery disease.

Pearl Byrne, 47, was with her husband Tony on the Fernandez-2 when she fell and hit her head at about 11 a.m. at the Blue Lagoon.

She had a fit and turned pale. Mrs Byrne collapsed because of a coronary artery disease, according to the autopsy.

The disease is a condition that clogs the arteries and reduces blood supply to the heart and body.

She was airlifted to Mater Dei Hospital and died soon after.

A magisterial inquiry was launched and a number of court experts were appointed.
