The local council of Zebbug Gozo, which is responsible for Marsalforn, has urged the authorities to rebuild the breakwater across part of the popular bay.

Referring to the damage cause to the promenade by a storm on Thursday, the council said it could not continue to repair storm damage unless action was taken to repair or rebuild the breakwater.

The rough seas removed large sections of tiling on the promenade and also damaged railings and benches.

The council called on the Ministry for Gozo to take urgent action.

The breakwater across part of the mouth of Marsalforn Bay was damaged some years ago and never repaired.
