A 23 year old woman was conditionally discharged for two years and placed under probation and a Libyan man, 24, was fined €300 this morning after admitting before a court to having tried to sell a baby.

The baby was born last December and the attempt to sell him was made earlier this month..

The case was heard behind closed doors before Magistrate Antonio Mizzi.

Police inspectors Louise Calleja and Melvin Camilleri prosecuted. Lawyers Anglu Farrugia and Edward Gatt were defence counsel.
