Gaetano Calleja, M.Ed., assistant head at Liceo Vassalli, Tal-Handaq in the first week of November attended a course entitled "A survival course in European Project Management" at the University of Hull, England.
The course, funded under the EU Comenius 2.2 action programmes, centred around methodologies and pedagogies of EU school-funded projects. Participating countries were Malta, Italy, Austria, Spain, Germany, Latvia, Greece and Lithuania. Also present were participants from applicant countries - Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey.
The course was an excellent occasion to bring together EU project co-ordinators to share their experiences while participating in workshops and seminars.
During one of the sessions, Mr Calleja gave a power point presentation regarding the education system in Malta.
An important element of the course was the project planning and organisation. Participants took part in a simulation exercise of project planning and went through the various phases of project organisation. All participants contributed through study papers and the dissemination of experiences.
The course proved to be very useful since various participants agreed upon further co-operation in future EU projects. An end of course certificate was awarded to all participants at a farewell dinner at the staff house of the University of Hull.
