A court has altered bail conditions for an Italian who yesterday was accused of having commissioned two people to hold up his landlady.

Oliviero Filisetti, 59, was originally granted bail against a deposit of €2,000 and a personal guarantee of €5,000.

The criminal court of appeal today ordered that the deposit should be €5,000 and the accused should report to a police station every day. He was also required to deposit his passport and ID card in the court registry. The appeal was filed by the Attorney General.

Mr Filisetti allegedly commissioned personal trainer Mariella aka Michael Chircop St John, 41, and taxi driver Matthew Joseph Sciberras, 29, to hold up Joanna Beirne, steal her car and mobile phone and to hold her at gun point.

Mr Filisetti allegedly used to rent an apartment from Ms Beirne and became infatuated with her.

All three pleaded not guilty.
