CPD officials get €1.5k allowance and €2.2k salary boost in new agreement

Sectoral agreement follows one signed in 2021

Civil Protection officials will receive a €1,500 allowance and at least a €2,200 annual pay increase thanks to a new sectoral agreement signed on Monday.

The government said in a statement that this was the biggest investment in the Civil Protection Department.

The agreement has also improved working conditions and career progression, and follows a 2021 agreement.

Prime Minister Robert Abela said in a ceremony marking the agreement that this was one of nearly 140 concluded since 2022.

These agreements translate into some €2 billion investment in workers, and were possible because of the island's strong economy, he added.

Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri was also present at the ceremony.
