I cannot understand why banks in Malta are 'untouchable'.
They charge us an annual fee on credit cards and the amount varies depending on the type of card, so banks are earning the annual fee plus interest from shops and - if you do not pay within a few weeks - interest charged to the card holder; if you need an additional card there is another yearly charge.
The banks can make enough profit without charging the annual fee, so I do not see why they should continue to do so. Many banks in the UK, including HSBC, Barclays and Lloyds, do not charge this annual fee. Nor do other banks in most of Europe.
So why should we be charged in Malta, and why should no one complain?
