A national crime conference entitled 'Criminality in small states' is to be held on April 23 at the New Dolmen Hotel, Qawra. The conference is aimed at bringing together experts in the area of criminology to present the crime situation in Malta and other small states, particularly islands.

The conference organisers, the Malta Criminology Association (MACA), are calling for papers to be submitted for eventual presentation during the conference.

The titles and 200-word abstracts of such papers are to be submitted by February 24, with the full papers to be submitted by April 7.

The subject of the papers may deal with policing, illegal immigration, corrections, cybercrime, historical inputs in criminology, gender, age, juveniles, sexual offences, spatial criminology and security, among others.

Students submitting a poster or paper will be eligible for the Best Student paper award and presentation.

The conference is supported by the University's Institute of Criminology at www.um.ed.mt/criminology.

The conference fee is €10 for MACA members and €30 for non-members.
