The next cultural roadshow organised by Din l-Art Helwa will focus on Dingli and in particular on the rural hamlet of Is-Simblija.

This ancient settlement, dating to the period of Arab domination on the island, was recently restored and bears witness to its small farming community, its waterways and irrigation systems introduced to the island in mediaeval times.

Set in an outstanding cliff face location above terraced orchards where narrow water channels and numerous deep wells abound, Is-Simblija provides Malta with a unique cultural landscape.

The DLH presentation team made up of historian John Sare', Victor Rizzo, Cynthia de Giorgio and Miriam Cremona will dedicate part of their talk to the work of Din l-Art Helwa.

Cultural roadshows have been organised by Din l-Art Helwa in Rabat, Mgarr, Zebbug, Zurrieq, Mosta and Zejtun over the past year to expand awareness of the importance of rural and vernacular cultural heritage in outlying areas.

The talk will be held at the day centre, Dingli on Thursday at 6.30 pm. The public are invited to attend.
