Culture 2000 is the European Union's funding programme for quality projects promoting the arts and cultural mobility, fostering intercultural dialogue and striving for creativity and innovation, among others.
The four sectors which applicant organisations can apply for within the broad cultural field are: Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Cultural Heritage and Literature (books, reading and translation).
Whereas in previous years, the call for applications placed a special emphasis on one particular sector, in 2005 all four sectors will be given approximately equal attention.
Annual and multi-annual projects are applicable under Culture 2000 programme. Annual projects involve the participation of at least three organisations from three countries whereas multi-annual projects range from a two-to-three-year period, and require at least five organisations from five participating countries.
The deadlines for submission of applications for Culture 2000 funding are October 15 for annual projects and October 24 for multi-annual projects. Application forms for interested applicants are available from the EU Cultural portal at http://europa.eu.int/comm/culture/eac/index_en.html and from the Malta Culture 2000 Website www.kultura2000malta.org.
Further information may be obtained from the Cultural Contact Point Malta (CCP) within the EUPU at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Employment, via e-mail to info@kultura2000malta.org or tel. 2122-6770, fax 2123-1589.
