As from May 2004, you will not be stopped by Maltese customs to pay customs duties on goods brought in from any of the 25 EU member states. Customs may only stop you in those cases where they have serious suspicions that you are bringing illegal goods such as drugs, firearms, ammunition, pornographic material and others into the country.
