A great treat for lovers of contemporary dance will be two performances by the Marseilles based contemporary dance company Collectiff K.O. Under the direction of their artistic director Manon Avram, they will give two performances at the MITP Theatre in St Christopher Street, Valletta on August 11 and 12, both evenings at 9 p.m. Collectiff K.O will be presenting a contemporary dance programme featuring a fusion with photography. It will explore the themes of inside/outside and visible/invisible by means of body movement and photographs.
The dancers interpreting the piece will be Fanny Avram and Emma Morin
Many people feel that we don't see enough challenging contemporary dance here. To be fair, companies such as Francesca Tranter's Contact Dance Company are in the forefront of dance trends... and indeed even setting new ones. But, as Nicola Critien remarked in June's Showtime: "It is time for Maltese choreographers and dancers to see the light rather than the sequins".
The two performances by Collectiff K.O will be welcomed by all lovers of contemporary dance in the Maltese islands.
