The report Falling Bricks Pose Danger At Beach (September 2) and the caption of the photo seem to imply that the wall of the private garden collapsed only recently. The fact is that the wall collapsed some seven years ago and has been left in that state ever since.
The mayor was quoted as saying that access to the stairs leading to the beach was temporarily blocked on the Monday (August 29). Had this been done when the wall collapsed, the temporary measure would have lasted seven years already, something I would call permanent. Who knows how long we have to wait to have the danger eliminated?
It is to be noted that the danger is not coming only from the mentioned garden wall. Last year, a boulder fell from public land just outside this garden. It was only God's will that prevented a tragedy considering that there were people, mostly children, swimming in the area. No court cases can justify the lack of concrete action (which does not include the blocking of beaches).
I, together with so many others, sincerely look forward to using this lovely beach before the end of the season.
