When construction took place over our heads (we occupy a ground-floor maisonette) a year ago my wife and I suffered a nervous breakdown because of:

a) invasion of privacy - workmen peering onto our yard and reacting sarcastically when politely asked what their job for the day involved;

b) water leakage from one of our ceilings late one evening, something that never happened in the 27 years we have been living here;

c) displaced block of stone in one of our walls, with stone fragments scattered all over the place;

d) excessive noise all day, including siesta time;

e) a block of concrete weighing one kilo in our yard which obviously fell from the construction site and which could have seriously injured us;

f) devaluation of our property, as hitherto our block always consisted of two-storey dwellings.

Is it too much to ask that we residents are given adequate compensation in some form for all this disturbance, particularly damage to our health?

Material damage to our place was indeed repaired but we never invited anyone to damage our property. We are but the victims of unwelcome overdevelopment.
