The Dance Council - Malta is holding an extraordinary dance course in the Bournonville Method by Anne Marie Vessel Schlüter, former star of the Royal Danish Ballet Company, at the Central Academy of Ballet in Birkirkara. The course is being held from Friday till the following Wednesday.

Ms Vessel Schlüter was trained at the Ballet School of the Royal Danish Theatre. She became an apprentice in 1965, and in 1967 she was engaged as a dancer by the Royal Danish Ballet.

Ms Vessel Schlüter, who has danced a number of soloist roles, started to teach in 1979, and in 1988 she was appointed director of the Ballet School at the Royal Danish Theatre.

She has staged a number of Bournonville-ballets at the Royal Theatre.

In 1991, she staged a new version of A Folk Tale together with Frank Andersen, and in 1998 she recreated the ballet Bellman for the Royal Swedish Ballet's bicentenary.

In 2001, Vessel Schlüter became a ballet master at the Royal Danish Ballet.
