More data for viewers: GO Trends for Maltese businesses unveiled

Data and access to accurate information are critical to any business

The feast of the Assumption in Mosta on August 15 was the most visited feast by tourists, particularly those from France, the UK and Poland. And when it comes to longer tourist stays, Dutch and German tourists lead, with an average stay of six to seven days.

Among Malta’s football fans, the English Premier League attracts over three times more viewers than Italian Serie A. The most watched match so far this season was Manchester City against Manchester United on September 14 at 5.30pm.

These are the sort of findings that GO will start making available to Maltese businesses through its newly launched Go Trends – a new insights platform through which GO will be helping Maltese businesses with fast and privacy-safe access to actionable market data.

Alison Schembri, market and data insights manager at GO, who is leading the initiative, says these data insights are captured through GO’s networks namely, by tracking viewership counts of GO’s TV network and roaming mobile networks as soon as tourists land in Malta.

“Data and access to accurate information are critical to any business. However, for many Maltese businesses, access to timely, aggregated insights derived from reliable data sources has been limited,” Schembri says.

“At GO, we work with rich, privacy-preserving network data and analytics that reveal how people move, watch and engage. With GO Trends, we’re making these aggregated insights available through intuitive dashboards so that local businesses can make smarter, faster decisions. Our goal is to help them grow and thrive with us.”At launch, GO Trends introduces two interactive dashboards: the first is a TV Viewership Dashboard which shows TV audience levels across channels and across different times of day to help advertisers, agencies and content owners plan schedules, optimise purchases and evaluate programme performance.

The second is a Tourist Footfall Dashboard, which tracks the volume of tourists in Malta by day and by nationality. It estimates length of stay and highlights the locations they visit across Malta and Gozo. This data helps venue owners, attractions managers and local councils plan staffing, events and promotions.

Businesses can learn more and request access to GO Trends via GO’s website: www.go.com.mt/go-trends/.
