De Grisogono, a great name in the universe of luxury, has been launched in Malta by Sandro Azzopardi Gioielleria.

Set up in 1995 by Fawaz Gruosi, who worked for top jewellers for more than 20 years, the De Grisogono brand has become a highly reputed name.

Speaking to The Sunday Times on the occasion of the launch, Sandro Azzopardi said Mr Grousi's creations are simply art at its best in jewellery made from the finest selection of precious stones and metals. The watches are made with the highest passion and ideas without having the fear of risking in the high-end luxury market.

Mr Grousi has become famous for his use of black diamonds. He took the risk of placing a bet on a virtually unknown stone. It was indeed a big risk, but three years later, an absolute record was broken, with the price of a carat of black diamond exploding on the market for precious stones, Mr Azzopardi added.

Mr Grousi is now recognised internationally as an artist in the luxury world and we are all excited having his extraordinary creations on this island, Mr Azzopardi said. A visit to the brand's Website, www.degrisogono.com is a must for any art lover.

But there is more to the De Grisogono style than black diamonds, since it also finds its expression through the use of all precious stones and fine pearls. Just like the famous names of haute couture, Gruosi produces his creations on a made to measure basis. He thinks up completely new models, works on each piece one by one, inventing a story for each gem created in the pure tradition of fine jewellery.

The first watch bearing the De Grisogono signature, Instrumento No. Uno, has enjoyed immediate success. It is first and foremost a luxury watch; the brand's philosophy is to concentrate all present and future watch-making developments on the combination of aesthetic considerations and the traditional watchmaker s craft.

Sandro Azzopardi Gioielleria now offers a shop-in-shop for both Bulgari and De Grisogono in the Sliema boutique and the same collections are also available from the Valletta one.
