Detectives are questioning a 64-year-old woman arrested after the discovery of a dead baby hidden in a bag in the attic of a south Wales house, police said yesterday.
Following the woman's arrest on Tuesday, officers searched her own house and discovered what they believed to be the remains of two further infants in bags in her attic.
The first baby had been discovered on March 20 at a nearby house in the Gurnos area of Merthyr Tydfil when its new owners were putting boxes in the attic.
At the time, police appealed for the baby's mother to come forward and began tracing the house's former occupants.
A post-mortem failed to discover the infant's cause of death, though pathologists believe it was full-term. It had been dead for years, rather than months, police said.
