Liquigas has called for action by the authorities after gas cylinders which it says have been hoarded by Easygas were not returned to it.
The Malta Resources Authority had set a deadline of 5 p.m. today for the two companies to return each other's gas cylinders. Liquigas had denied holding any Easygas cylinders.
Liquigas said it expected the authorities to ensure that Easygas returned all the Liquigas gas cylinders and stop hoarding.
"If the Malta Resources Authority (MRA) is unable to assume its responsibilities and function as a dependable Regulator, then in the current circumstances, it is useless and futile for Liquigas to continue to do extra efforts to put more and more cylinders in such a distorted and unregulated market," the company said.
"Liquigas' property simply cannot continue disappearing into Easygas' black hole."
Liquigas said yesterday it imported a batch of 800 cylinders to ease a current shortage of cylinders which it said was caused by the hoarding.
