Jermain Defoe scored his first goal since returning to Tottenham Hotspur yesterday, firing an equaliser in a 1-1 draw against former club Portsmouth to lift his side off the bottom of the Premier League.
Defoe, who spent just a year at Portsmouth after leaving Tottenham, rescued Spurs with a 70th minute strike after David Nugent had put the visitors ahead 12 minutes earlier.
The draw means the five teams at the bottom of the table all have 21 points with Spurs moving out of the relegation zone on goal difference.
West Ham United made light of striker Craig Bellamy's absence earlier, beating Fulham 3-1 to move further away from the relegation zone.
Bellamy, a reported target for Manchester City and Tottenham, was not included in the squad but his stand-in, Italian David di Michele, took his chance to impress.
Di Michele put West Ham in front early on after a mistake from Fulham defender John Pantsil but Fulham levelled before the break when Paul Konchesky fired an unstoppable shot past keeper Robert Green.
Mark Noble restored West Ham's lead from a penalty on the hour after Konchesky fouled Carlton Cole. Cole wrapped up the points to move West Ham into eighth place.
