Dell last month announced its printers rank number one in overall customer satisfaction among business users based on an inaugural J.D. Power and Associates study. According to the J.D. Power and Associates 2005 Printer Customer Satisfaction Study, conducted this year, Dell ranked ahead of 10 printer vendors serving the US.

The study provides a detailed vendor report card that includes product sales, performance and customer support. According to the study, Dell netted leading scores in the areas of performance, ease of use and high customer and sales satisfaction. The study also found that 65 per cent of study respondents conducted online research, via sites such as Dell.com, before purchasing their printer.

"The J.D. Power and Associates study findings reinforce the strength of Dell's commitment to provide the best possible customer experience, starting with world-class products and following through with superior support," Tim Peters, Dell vice-president of imaging and printing, said.

Since entering the printer market in 2003, Dell has garnered double-digit growth year on year. In its third-quarter results announcement earlier, Dell reported laser shipments doubled year on year, led by growth in colour laser printers.

The printer satisfaction study is based on responses from more than 1,600 business decision-makers and involved 11 major brands serving the US market.
