\nThis was a merited victory for Kavallieri over a disappointing University side. Kavallieri had the stronger start but University quickly replied to tie the game only for their opponents to strike back and take a 10-7 lead by the end of the first half.
At this stage, one expected Ronald Zammit's University to stage a serious recovery... this never seemed to materialise though. Undoubtedly, the abs-ence of key scorer Brandon Cascun was deeply felt.
Kavallieri hit a four-goal rally without reply after the break to open up a 16-11 lead. University pulled three goals back but Kavallieri scored three further goals to lead 19-14.
Time was running out for University as the final minutes saw them committing some basic mistakes from which Kavallieri took full advantage to put the issue beyond doubt.
Veteran Julian Xuereb scored six times for Kavallieri followed by Malcolm Zarb who netted five. On the other hand, Orlando Bonnici managed six goals for University.
