Labour leader Alfred Sant said yesterday the country needed a development plan to regenerate the economy.
The government, he said, had to understand such a need because things would not improve without an effort being made.
Speaking during a meeting with the General Workers' Union, requested by the union, Dr Sant said the MLP would extend its full support to the union in its campaign to raise awareness about the need for job creation. He said the GWU would be holding public manifestations in favour of job creation and the MLP would be doing the same.
On his part, GWU general secretary Tony Zarb said the union wanted to play its part in the generation of jobs and also to assist those workers who lost their jobs.
