Road workers were digging up part of Triq l-Ghassara ta' L-Gheneb near Valletta Waterfront this morning, barely a week since the reopening of the road after rebuilding.

The workers were remedying problems around a manhole, which appeared to have collapsed.

TRANSPORT MALTA REACTION

In a reaction, Transport Malta said these works were requested by Transport Malta.

"They are not the first remedial works on this road and, as always happens with projects of this size, we may expect other remedial works to be required as test results come in," TM said.

"For the record, the road has as yet not been accepted by Transport Malta. Once accepted the contractor remains responsible for any defects which might come up as a result of bad workmanship or materials for five years after the date of acceptance."
